Aussie diva, Kylie Minogue has another dance hit song. Although non-dance song listener may not be aware of this song’s success, but “Get Outta My Way” has been on #1 on dance chart for some time now. “Get Outta My Way” is on Kylie’s eleventh studio album, Aphrodite.

Yolanda Be Cool & DCUP - We No Speak Americano

These Aussie guys have an international hit with “We No Speak Americano.” It has reached #1 in numerous countries in Europe. The name Yoland Be Cool comes from a line in Pulp Fiction (when Samuel L. Jackson’s character tries to calm down the female robber). It is repetitive, but it sure stays in your head.

Sia - Clap Your Hands

Album: We Are Born

Australian singer, Sia, may be well known to Zero 7 fans as she has collaborated with them. Sia has had a busy 2010 so far. She helped write a couple of songs for Christina Aguilera’s new album, Bionic. And she also managed to write and record her own album, We Are Born, which is her fourth album. “Clap Your Hands” is doing well on the dance chart.

Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers

It’s been three years since her last album, X (which was her 10th album), and her 11th album, All The Lovers, debuted at number one in UK. The album was actually released during the same week as her debut album, Kylie, was released 22 years ago. That makes Kylie Minogue 42 years old. That also makes Minogue the only female artist to have a number one album in four consecutive decades (80s, 90s, 00s and 10s).

While Slash and gang of former Guns N Roses still look for replacement for Velvet Revolver’s new lead singer (after Scott Weidland left to reunite Stone Temple Pilots), top hat wearing guitarist took to release his solo album, featuring a lot of famous lead singers ranging from Ozzy Osbourne, Fergie, Chris Cornell, Adam Levine of Maroon 5. I still haven’t heard the whole album yet, but I like the lead off single featuring Andrew Stockdale of Wolfmother.

Violent Soho - Jesus Stole My Girlfriend

They sound a little like Nirvana, The Vines, and The Datsuns put together. Just like the Vines, Violent Soho hails from Australia, and plays Nirvana-esque screaming rock songs. Their US debut album, Violent Soho will be released in early March. Most of the songs on the album are from their debut album, We Don’t Belong Here from 2008. They are currently touring all over the US to get their name out.

Natalie Imbruglia - Want

Former Aussie soap star had a worldwide hit with “Torn” in 1998. Since then she’s enjoyed mediocre hits such as “Wrong Impression” and “Counting Down the Days” but nothing as big as “Torn.” Chances are, her fourth album, Come to Life won’t bring in any major hits either despite working with Chris Martin of Coldplay. “Want” is the first single, and it is one of the songs Natalie Imbruglia worked with Chris Martin. Compared to her previous clean pop sound, this track has more of Kylie Minogue feel to it. But, is it just me or does she look kind of freaky on this cover?

Orianthi - According To You

If you watched Michael Jackson’s “This Is It” documentary, you may have seen this blonde haired girl playing guitar next to Michael. Unfortunately, she never got to go on that tour, but she was able to release her major studio debut album, Believe. Her music sounds like a mixture of Pink and Kelly Clarkson, and she looks like a typical popstar wannabe, but her guitar playing ability is unbelievable. “According to You” is already a top 10 hit in her native country of Australia, and it is slowly gaining popularity in the US.

Jet - She's A Genius

Australian rock band famous for “Are You Gonna Be My Girl” has just released a new album, Shaka Rock. Japan had the first release date in mid August, and US a week later. The first single from the new album, “She’s A Genius” is a catchy rock song, and was available for free download from AOL Music upon the release.

Gabriella Cilmi - Sweet About Me

Album: Lessons To Be Learned

This Australian singer doesn’t sound 17 years at all. Her vocal style is similar to Amy Winehouse, and this particular track definitely puts her on the same map as recent throw-back artists like Winehouse and Duffy. This track has been burning up the chart in her native country Australia and UK. There is still no US release date of her album, but Universal Republic has been pushing this track out on their monthly sampler.

AC/DC - Rock N' Roll Train

AC/DC’s brand new album, Black Ice is only available (at least in the US) at Wal-Mart and Sam’s Club. Personally I hate when they do that since it’s much harder to purchase digital single track. Nevertheless, this is Aussie band’s 15th album, which took 8 years since their last release of Stiff Upper Lip in 2000. The thing about AC/DC is that if you’ve never really heard of them, you probably can’t tell which singles were from which decade. In a way, that’s cool because they still rock out like “Shook Me All Night Long.” And so far this year, Black Ice is the second most selling album in its debut week behind Lil Wayne (that means this sold more than Coldplay’s album).

Lenka - The Show

Australian singer Lenka got some attention after this song was used on American comedy TV show, Ugly Betty. I’ve never seen that show, but I can imagine it fitting for the show. With numerous instruments, Lenka creates fun, pop sound that you want to sing along to on a warm sunny day. If you liked Yael Naim’s “New Soul”, this song is for you.

The Vines - He's A Rocker

Aussie rock band, The Vines, was considered to be the “next Nirvana” in the early 2000s. I thought their songs were catchy and decent, but I never thought they deserved such a nickname. And they disappeared, at least in the US, I didn’t hear about them for several years. Fast forward to 2008, and I still haven’t heard much about them, except that they have just released an album in Australia with this single, “He’s A Rocker” (no relation to the movie, “The Rocker”). It’s a catchy, fun, rock song that makes you want to jump up and down in the mosh pit. The album is not available in US or UK yet, but it is digitally available on iTunes.

Sam Sparro - Black & Gold

Sam Sparro is an Australian singer that is now signed to UK label. This song was a popular single in UK about four months ago. I thought about selecting this song then, but dismissed it. Recently I started hearing this song on the local dance station, and it started to grow on me. This self titled album is his debut. He is also a producer, and is supposed to be producing for Lindsay Lohan’s next album.

Delta Goodrem - In This Life

One of the biggest stars in Australia holds lots of records for most top hits, awards received, and so forth. Like a lot of the Aussie female popstars (like Kylie Minogue, Natalie Imbruglia, Holly Valance), she's from the soap opera, Neighbours. At age 18 (2003), she was diagnosed with cancer, but she has recovered and this is her first single off of her third album.

Natalie Imbruglia - Glorious

Although a lot of people brush her off as one-hit wonder for her song, “Torn” from 1997. She’s released a couple more albums since then, but none has matched the commercial success of her debut album, “Left of the Middle.” Her latest album is mostly collection of her previous singles, but also contains a few new songs such as this one. Considering that she was not that big in the US other than her hit for “Torn” I’m not sure if this album will ever be released here.

Silverchair - Straight Lines

Speaking of comeback, here is another name I haven’t heard in years and years. When I first heard of them in 1995, I think the lead singer was still only 15 years or something. Since then they have released three more album, which makes this one their 5th album, and the lead singer had married Natalie Imbruglia! (rumor has it that she’s working on her comeback album). This song sounds nothing like their grunge rock style hits from 12 years ago. I hear violin and synthesizers. I guess every musician needs to mature somehow.

Rogue Traders - Voodoo Child

Rogue Traders is an Aussie dance-pop group, led by a hottie, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, who surprise, surprise, became famous after acting on Australia’s popular soap opera, “Neighbors.” It seems like every Aussie female pop star comes from that show (Natalie Imbruglia, Kylie Minogue, Delta Goodrem, just to name a few).

Sick Puppies - All The Same

This Aussie band started out by two highschool kids, singer/guitarist, Shimon Moore and bassist Emma Anzai (I can’t find any data, but she looks part Japanese from the photos). Moore, who used to give “Free Hugs”, made a video from his hugging experience, and when one of his friend’s grandma died, he sent the video as a sympathy card, using this song as the background music. And that video was posted on YouTube, and next thing you know, they had 10 million views. Needless to say, they were soon signed, and touring around the world.
