About This Site

Each month I select 20 songs (10 songs twice a month) that I am either hooked on or am curious about. Most of the music I select are rock, hip-hop, R&B and pop songs.

My song selection comes from 20-30 CDs I get from various sources each month, as well as recommendations from iTunes and Amazon. I also check out the charts in US, UK and Japan.

Our Lady Peace - All You Did Was Save My Life

Album: Burn Burn

A lot of the popular rock bands from the 90s are trying to make a come back this summer. Collective Soul, Third Eye Blind, Sugar Ray are all releasing albums this summer, and the Canadian rocker, Our Lady Peace is also trying to stay relevant. This is a good catchy song, but at the same time, I was a little disappointed. I was a huge fan of their 90s hits such as “Superman’s Dead” and “Clumsy” because they sounded unique and different. But now, particularly this track, makes them sound like every other top 40 pop-rock bands like Lifehouse or David Cook (but then lead singer Raine Maida produced for several of Cook’s tracks). It’s fine if they chose to go on that path, but they made an announcement that this album is going to be like their older stuff, so I guess my expectation was a little different.
